National Incident Management System Training (NIMS)
Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD) 5 directed the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security to develop a National Incident Management System (NIMS). NIMS provides a consistent national approach for Federal, State and local governments to work together to prepare for, respond to, recover from and mitigate domestic incidents. Federal, State and local agencies adopted NIMS and agreed to comply with its requirements.
A core component of NIMS is training. The NIMS Training Program outlines training requirements for all responders to be compliant with the NIMS.
Stanislaus County has sponsored NIMS training with Homeland Security Grant funding since 2006. A wide array of classes are offered within Stanislaus County to assist local first responder agencies with NIMS training requirements. Due to federal funding limits, OES will no longer be offering ICS-100, ICS-700, or ICS-200 instructor led courses. These courses are offered online through the FEMA Independent Study program. Local first responders are given preference for all training classes sponsored by the Stanislaus County Operational Area. Click the link below to learn more about the NIMS Training Program.
California Incident Command Certification System Training (CICCS)
In the wake of the 1991 Tunnel Fire (Oakland Hills) & the 1993 California Firestorms, the State Fire Marshal's Office, Cal OES & Cal Chiefs met to discuss the creation of a system to “…..standardize certification and qualifications for ICS positions.”
CICCS certification courses will prepare local jurisdictions to deploy firefighting resources to complex and catastrophic incidents with trained and qualified personnel.
EOC Management Team Training (EOCMT)
To be successful in managing the all-risk, all-hazards environment that we face today, individuals staffing our EOC must have both a breadth of knowledge and expertise. Stanislaus County must also have a depth of available staffing.
The EOC Management Team is trained to respond to events and incidents that would require EOC activation. The team may also be made available to other EOCs in our Operational Area (county) for deployment, if requested.EOCMT Training Overview
